The holidays are a great time for everyone, be it kids or adults, just everyone enjoys holidays. This is the time when most people forget everything about their food habits and diets. It is noticed that during the season between Halloween and Christmas, people normally put on weight by around seven to ten pounds. Here are some tips and suggestions to make your holidays even greater by maintaining the healthy diet and not putting on weight.
The most favorite and the traditional dish, Turkey, can be produced to maintain low fats. Without the skin, Turkey’s are quite lean and its gravy can be cooked without any fats. You can also enjoy having potatoes which do not have butter on them and can be very healthy. The pumpkin pie is normally quite nutritious, even though you can top it with whipped cream to add the fats.
Holidays doesn’t imply that you can skip your exercises. Always remember to exercise regularly. They would help in burning the extra calories that you put on. Walking is always a good option, especially after meals or when you go shopping. You may park at a distance from the wall and take some walk around before shopping.
When going out for parties or family dinners, take few scoops of all kinds, mixing the variety. Always decide on your diet plan and accordingly have your food. Eating lots of vegetables, lean meat, low fat dressings and fruits will make a good diet. Also you may consider having some snacks before visiting the party, so you don’t end up splurging.
Try avoiding alcohol, if you can. A lot of drinks may get you excited to jump over the food, without bothering about the diet-plan. Instead, take some lemon water, as it will control your appetite and save you from splurging. Eggnog has high calories, around 300, so try avoiding it.
This doesn’t mean that you have to be so rigid, a bad meal wont affect much, but make sure not to think the same, at every party.
